Housing for All PDF Print E-mail

The Ashoka Arab World Housing For All Initiative intends to transform housing markets by providing a market-based model that creates low-cost housing solutions. Living conditions in these informal settlements are of low-quality, and inhabitants are frequently threatened with eviction by absentee land-owners or governments. Existing services programs have failed to scale-up their projects or attain the necessary financial sustainability. Ashoka Arab World will transform people's lives by effectively addressing low-income housing needs in informal settlements. It will do this by engaging our Fellows, the business sector, governments and communities to host Housing for All (HFA) centers in existing micro-finance institutions in order to address the housing needs of low-income households in a participatory, replicable, sustainable way. It will also focus on "house/home improvements" in its pilot phase.

As soon as appropriate partners have been identified to help us execute this program, we hope to develop this project further so it may be implemented in the near future.  For a more detailed overview of the program.
